The mechanism of dementia

The structure of the human being

From a spiritual perspective, a human being consists of personality, soul and spirit. As a result, his spiritual being consists of separate layers of consciousness in order to form the personality, the soul and the spirit and to provide these with life energy. His individuality is part of his personality. The soul accommodates his eternal core, which safeguards man’s progress, his spiritual growth during the course of his lives. The spirit ensures the connection with his divine origin.

At man’s origin, he was spirit first. From there the soul developed and subsequently his personality. When people die, this process takes place in reversed order: first he will release the layers of his personality, then those of his soul and finally the layers of his spirit. This is the reversed order of how he originated. When a person starts to grow demented, we can therefore see that he first loses his personality structure, then his soul-recognition and lastly the spirit.

The process of dementia

The process of dementia can be divided into three phases:

1. The loss of one’s personality

When someone begins to grow demented and releases the first layer of consciousness in which his personality is formed, he will rapidly begin to experience problems with his short-term memory. Gradually, he will become somewhat confused and his fine motor skills seem to be deteriorating. All daily activities take more effort and he also gets a bit slower. “Ah, getting older is not easy..... I am starting to feel my age”, says the person who is growing demented at this stage.

When this process advances and more layers of his personality-consciousness are being released, the person with dementia slowly loses grip on himself and on life. He loses his personality structure, loses the solid ground under his feet. He also loses more and more decorum. The thin layer of varnish with which one coated one's personality during the course of  life, gradually wears off. The personality also becomes more unrestrained and major old personality problems, which he seemed to have overcome, can recur with full intensity. It is an unpleasant phase for the persons and his environment.

At this stage, the person apparently struggles to retain his mental abilities. However, he feels he needs to let go of his daily pursuits, because he is increasingly incapable of coping with his responsibilities. After all, life within him is withdrawing due to the (subconscious) desire to release life itself. On the surface, someone is struggling to stay ‘present’, but underneath the surface he does not want to be present anymore. As in this phase of dementia he is conscious about the fact that he is growing demented, this causes a lot of tension within himself. He is involved in a heroic but contradictory battle.

The heroic battle of a person with dementia

Every person who is in the process of growing demented, experiences a battle between on the one hand subconsciously wanting to leave and on the other hand wanting to stay. This depends on how deeply rooted his underlying traumas are and how strongly the people around him are able to motivate him to stay focused on reality. Therefore, it is impossible to say how long this battle will last. At this stage, day care may become a necessary addition to his care, because he needs to be monitored. If there are just a few people to take care of him, e.g. when a person is single, he will soon need to be cared for in a nursing home. Nothing is more demotivating in life than being picked up to go to day care every day!

When the dementia process progresses and more layers of consciousness of his personality are being released, his spiritual tissue will degenerate further and will slowly lose its cohesion. His light structure becomes deformed and will lose its usual egg-shape, which will cause his light protection to disappear. As a result, the person with dementia struggles to shield himself from the negative influences of people around him. At a later stage, he will not be able to protect himself against astral influences from entities either. This causes him to start losing his character structure. He becomes suspicious towards others, starts to have hallucinations, delusions and possibly also psychosis. He becomes more and more aggressive and difficult to manage.

Admission into the nursing home

The person with dementia now does not resemble the person he once was. He acts less from his personality reference, but more from negative influences and therefore the use of medication becomes necessary. Due to the use of medication, he will start to get numb and will quickly sink away. If on top of that, his day and night rhythm starts to become disturbed, an admission into a nursing home will become necessary, especially when he can no longer control his bodily functions.

Because an interaction exists between spirit and body, the disintegration of the spiritual structure will cause the body to start disintegrating as well. Because the spiritual disintegration follows a logical order, the degeneration of the body will also demonstrate specific characteristics. When, for example, the fine motor skills decrease, walking, which is a part of the rough motor skills, will no longer be possible either. The advancing disintegration of the spirit of the person with dementia is accompanied by the advancing disintegration of his body.

2. Meeting and releasing the soul

When the personality structure has been released, and therefore the personality is no longer approachable, you can, during the lucid moments, look straight into the soul of the demented person. The soul, his eternal core, which so much more gentle and lovable than his personality. At this stage, someone with dementia seems much happier and gentler than you could ever imagine. His better side is being revealed and he loses his sharp edges. He is indeed very demented, but is very beloved. In this phase you can meet the jewel inside the person.

At this stage, the demented person can hardly talk, his aphasia is almost complete, but his loving, almost childlike (innocent) radiation makes for much. Where you can no longer communicate from personality to personality, a deep inner love and communication from soul to soul has become possible. The totally dependent person can no longer hide nor keep up any appearance; shows his naked true core. This is at least so for those who address him on a deeper level, who want to communicate with him on another level. Because at this stage the demented person has become like a reflecting mirror and will respond in the way he will be addressed. At least, as long as the layers of consciousness of his soul are still present within him.

3. Releasing the spirit

Unfortunately the process of release continues! Only a very thin thread connects the demented person to life. He now has also released his soul, which has passed over to the spheres. He is only present in his spirit. He can no longer talk and becomes incontinent. You start to miss his personality and the warm glow of his soul. Only a few threads of his spirit connect him to life, although increasingly less so. A virtually empty shell is sitting in his wheelchair or lying on his bed.

A near-empty shell that cannot eat independently, cannot talk and does hardly react at all to anything anymore. It is empty inside the demented person. You miss him, the person. The practically empty shell is waiting for his death. But how much longer will it take? When will the cosmic time run out and the cord of life break? When will he be able to go ‘home’ and will the last bit of life in him withdraw and return to the spheres? His environment proposes and Life disposes.

And then the cord of life finally breaks. The last remainder of his spirit returns home and is placed back into God’s hand at last.
