Natural dementia
When the time has come to die, our spirit, as part of a natural process, gradually withdraws from the body. This process of the spirit withdrawing from the body generally starts around nine months before someone’s natural death. This ensures a gradual transition to the spheres. In this way he will be become less and less ‘present’ in life and will spend more time with his spirit in the spheres. Hence he can slowly get used to being there. His environment might say, "Father or mother is growing more and more demented". This is, however, a natural form of dementia, which is part of life.
The spirit’s structure
The spirit exists of many layers of consciousness. Someone’s ‘connection’ with these layers depends on the extent to which one has managed to develop his or her level of consciousness during life. This means that these layers have been embedded into his everyday consciousness, which allows him to access the information present in these levels of consciousness. During his many lives, a person's consciousness grows. This growth in consciousness will activate and add layers of consciousness. In this way, he will act in accordance with the meaning of his life; he is becoming increasingly aware of the fact that life has a meaning and will start to understand the deeper mystery of life.
When someone is finally called upon to die, he will have to let go of an equal number of layers of consciousness that he has activated in and embedded into his everyday consciousness during his lifetime. This is the only way he can cross over to the other side (the spheres), to review his life and give it further direction, guided by that grown consciousness. In a next life, he will carry along the already developed layers of consciousness as ‘luggage’ (starting capital) to Earth, to start a new life’s journey.
Unnatural dementia
The above described the natural process of life and death. However, when someone’s spirit starts to withdraw from the body while it is not yet time to die, he will also grow demented. In this case, however, we cannot consider this to be a natural mechanism that is part of the process of dying, in which case his dementia will be more severe than during a natural process of dying, as will it be prolonged. After all, his time on Earth has not yet lapsed as he has not yet been called back. He will let go of many more layers of consciousness than intended and therefore the process of his dementia will be more advanced than in case of a natural transition. His spiritual tissue, his spirit, which is solely composed of consciousness, can fully disintegrate as a result of this process. And since the spirit feeds the physical body, the body will eventually completely degenerate as well.
This form of dementia – senile dementia, which is caused by a too early withdrawal of the spirit from the body – is generally feared. Because if this form of dementia starts at a relatively young age, which will result in a prolonged process of dementia, it will result in a complete disintegration of the spirit and therefore in a total degeneration of the body. It is therefore a matter of urgency that we start to question ourselves what causes this unnatural form of dementia. After all we would prevent it from happening all too gladly.
Loosing the will to live
The early withdrawal of the spirit from the body is generally caused by the fact that people are no longer eager to live. For example, after having suffered a serious loss, such as the loss of a partner, someone can lose his motivation to live and develop a deep desire to die as well. Other people, as a result of the many major events in life, feel disappointed and lose confidence in life and do not really look forward to the remaining part. A lot of retired people lose the interest to live because they no longer feel productive, and in their opinion, life has nothing interesting to offer anymore. Do not forget the category of people who are chronically ill or who are limited in their physical abilities to the extent that it is difficult to stay motivated to live. We can imagine so many situations as a result of which people – consciously or subconsciously – prefer to distance themselves from life.
Not seeing the meaning of life
Another important cause of the increase in dementia is the fact that more and more people do no longer see the meaning of life, and regard it as meaningless. Due to the secularization of Western society, churches offer Western people little to hold onto anymore. Apparently, the concept of Heaven has also lost its magic for some, which gives the elderly no hope for the future. Many search for a new spiritual goal and they also flirt with the concept of reincarnation, but most are still too much in searching mode to be able to feel on solid ground. Others have simply forgotten how to search. Only a small percentage of people experiences a real spiritual anchor in himself. All in all there is little for the average Western elderly person to hold onto if they cannot expect much more of their earthly life and therefore they lose interest.
When people become less and less motivated to live or do not see the meaning of life, they will sub consciously deny their lives or try to flee from it. Of course, man can try to occupy (to anaesthetise) his spirit by watching television, but the only way to be really able to escape is - beside euthanasia, which is generally not available – to be less ‘present’ in life by withdrawing his spirit from the body. By withdrawing the spirit from the body, the reality of life will occur less and less. Someone who feels that it has been enough, can in this sub conscious way, prematurely depart from life.
